I made this medium sized bowl from Utah Cherry wood. When I first started turning bowls, I lived in Salt Lake City. My friend Jason owned a tree service in valley and whenever he had trees that he thought could make an interesting piece, he would call me. I found this wood in chipper pile and thought it could be a beautiful bowl.
This cherry bowl could be a wooden salad bowl or even an art piece displayed in your home. I filled the cracks in the wood with epoxy. That preserved the sunburst effect that the cracks created. And you can also see remnants of the bark of the tree on the sides of the bowl. This bowl is quite unique with its epoxy filled cracks and bits of bark left.
