This hand turned wood bowl is made from a Utah Sycamore.  My friend Jason owned a tree service and whenever he had trees he thought would make interesting pieces he would call me.  I found a Sycamore tree in the chipper pile.  I thought the wood could end up being something beautiful, so I brought a few pieces of the tree home.

As the wood sat in my yard and cured, it gained some soft color variations.  I added a groove around the lip of the bowl for some extra character to accent its understated Sycamore coloring.  This bowl shows off the heart wood of the tree right at its top edge.

I finished this bowl with a natural food safe oil.  This hand turned wood bowl is a perfect piece for a natural salad bowl or as a catch all for small items.
