This epoxy resin wood bowl is made from a Utah Sycamore tree. The majority of the wood I used during my first few years as a wood-turner came from a tree service in Salt Lake County. My friend Jason owned the tree service. Whenever he had wood that he thought looked interesting, he would call me. He allowed me to rummage through his wood pile before he ran all the wood through the shredder and sent it to the landfill. This bowl came from my friend’s tree service.
To make this bowl, I placed the blank in a pressure pot with epoxy. After that step, I hand turned it on the lathe. I also coated this bowl in epoxy before finishing it. This bowl would be a great salad bowl. With its grain pattern it can also be a unique piece of home decor.
